Vanna Brant, MD

Board Certified Pediatric Anesthesiologist

 

 

Dr. Vanna Soonthon-Brant moved to the US from Thailand at the age of 12.  With the goal of becoming a doctor, she attended college while supporting herself as a dental assistant.  She then attended medical school at USC School of Medicine where she received her MD in 1994 and was elected to the AOA Medical Honor Society.

 

After internship, she completed her Anesthesiology residency at UC San Diego Medical Center (UCSD) where she served as Chief Resident.  After Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, she returned to UCSD as Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology on the Cardiac and Pediatric Anesthesia teams, and also served as the director of resident education.  During her years in San Diego, she also lent her expertise to The San Diego Zoo, where it was her honor to perform anesthesia on the magnificent animals there including gorillas, orangutans, and giant pandas.

 

Dr. Soonthon-Brant practiced pediatric anesthesia at both UCSD Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of San Diego until moving to Fresno and joining the medical staff at Valley Children’s Hospital in 2002, where she has been providing anesthesia to children in the Valley for over 20 years.  She and her husband, Dr. Adam Brant, a neurosurgeon in town, attended medical school together and have been married for almost 30 years.  They have 2 grown children. Their oldest graduated from the University of Michigan and is a musical theater actor and composer in New York City.  Their youngest is currently attending Stanford University.

 

Dr. Soonthon-Brant also happily volunteers her time on medical missions where she has helped care for patients in Mexico, Chile, China, And Thailand.

 

Dr. Soonthon-Brant is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and subspecialty Board Certified in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
